Amanda Fudge walked into the Entrance Hall. She was finaly there. The place she had been wanting to go to for so long. It was very late in the school year already, so she had already been sorted into Ravenclaw, which she was happy for. She dragged her trunk further into the room. Hogwarts seemed so beautiful, and she really hoped that when she would return home, she would have loads of great memories from there. She sighed. Amanda had been wondering, if she was even going to make any friends here. Everyone knew who her father was, and most people also seemed to judge her by that. But she wasn't that much like him. She thought about Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. Her father had talked a lot about those three, but she had never met them. By her fathers discriptions, they all semed like interesting persons, and she was really looking forward to meet them all.
"Well, here I am." She said silently to the room.

Ginny Weasley made her way stealthily up from the dungeons towards the large Entrance Hall, intending to make her way out to the spacious ground beyond. She was coming from the way of Snape's Potions class, but he had just taken 30 points from Gryffindor because she wasn't going to trade skelter leaves with Horatio Thorn, a Slytherin boy who had complained that Ginny had squashed his when she passed. The truth was that she had smacked him upside the head for trying to feel her up as she squeezed by his table; but Snape wouldn't hear any of it, so she had snuck out when he wasn't looking, and decided that skiving off the rest of Potions was a guaranteed way of making sure she didn't curse Snape into oblivion the next time he glanced her way with that oily sneer of his.
"Well here I am."
The red-head jumped nearly a mile at the voice of the person right in front of her. She hadn't even noticed the girl, so deep was Ginny consumed in her thoughts about what an oily git Snape was. "Woah! ... you scared me ... not that that's your fault." She smiled apologetically at the girl for her start, not recognizing her as one of the students.

Amanda jumped as she heard someone speak right behind her. It was a not that tall redhaired girl. She looked very pretty, and reminded her of someone... perhaps a picture?
"Oh, sorry." She said. "I didn't even know anyone was here... I don't usually talk to myself, just so you know." She hurried to add.

As she gets her wits about her, she registers what the girl just said. "Oh ... well, if you say so. I talk to myself all the time - I like intelligent conversation." She smiles and laughs, holding her hand out towards the girl. "I'm Ginny Weasley. Are you new here?" She had just noticed the girl's trunk laying a couple feet away from her. Odd. They didn't get a lot of transfers here at Hogwarts.

Amanda saw her holding out her hand, and shook it.
"I'm Amanda." She hesitated, before finished her name. "Amanda Fudge. It's nice to meet you."
She didn't want to wait for Ginny's reaction. She was probably one of the students, who hated her father, but Amanda found it too early to be able to handle all those mocking comments.
"Yes, I just got here." She hastened to tell her. "I was home-schooled, but now I'm a seventh year."

"Oh, you were homeschooled?" Ginny said this with interest. It hadn't taken long for it to register with her who Amanda's father was. The girl seemed really nice, and Ginny hoped that she hadn't taken too much after Fudge. It still made her seethe slightly to think about the neglect Fudge had shown her father since Dumbledore had let out the truth about Voldemort, but Ginny wasn't the type of person to judge someone by their parents.
"I always wondered what that was like. What house are you in?" Something that probably would affect Ginny's immediate view of this girl would be if she was a Slytherin. Even though she had met a few decent ones this year ... well ... it was Slytherin!

Amanda laughed. The girl did seem nice and friendly, and she hadn't reacted in any negative way towards her last name, which was really good. It was about time people stopped judging her.
"Yes, I was." She replied. "And it's not much fun, when your parents are your teachers." She added grinning. "But your name, Weasley.. it seems familiar to me." She tried to think of where she could have heard it before, but couldn't recall anything.
"Oh, I'm in Ravenclaw." Amanda told her, taking a glance at the blue badge with the eagle on her chest. "Got sorted by Dumbledore himself, since I got here so late." She nodded as to confirm what she had just said. "What house are you in?"

"Oh ... Gryffindor." She brushed her long red hair behind her shoulder, displaying the red-and-gold badge on her robes. She usually wouldn't have worn them, but it was always deathly cold down there in those dungeons, even in the middle of summer! She smiled at the blue badge on Amanda's robes. She had been relieved that the girl was in Ravenclaw, Ginny had to admit. "Ah, so you're one of the intelligent ones, then." she nods with a smile, and continues, "it's a good House. I have a really good friend in there, her name's Luna Lovegood - you might know her ... but if you don't, well, don't be swayed by your first impression when you meet her."
"As for my name ..." Ginny thinks on it, before remembering that Amanda was Fudge's daughter. "Oh, well if your dad's Fudge, you might've met my father ..." She drifts off slightly. That wasn't likely. Ginny didn't think that Fudge was going to have one of 'Dumbeldore's guy's' over anytime soon for tea. "Er ... well, there's also my brothers. Hm, Fred and George own the joke shop in Diagon Alley ... or ... maybe my brother Ron? He's got himself in pretty spotlighty positions these past few years ..." She waited for a sign of recognition from Amanda, feeling like she was rambling, something Ginny tended to do if someone didn't shut her up.

"Gryffindor." Amanda repeated, nodding once more. She then suddenly remembered something. "Are you in the same year as Harry Potter, then?" She paused, in doubt if she should say what she was going to. She decided to do it. "My father really loated him in the end of his career, but I.. I never did. I think it was really brave of him. I mean, he has fought You-Know-Who so many times now, and he even had to spend an entire year, having to tollerate every insult from the magazines. Do you know him?" She added when she had finished.
Amanda reacted to the names Ginny was telling her. She had definatly heard all of those before. "Is your brother Percy Weasley, then? He works at the Ministry as an assistant to the Minister, dosen´t he?"

She listened to Amanda's explanation, before smiling with a nod of recognition. "Yeah ... brave and withstanding, that's Harry Potter. Sure, I know him. He's my brother Ron's best friend, and ... well, saved my life in my first year." She nodded at that. It must've sounded very off-hand of her to say it like that, but Ginny had gotten used to talking about that incident with regular familiarity now. She didn't go further into details of how she knew Harry, though, feeling that would definitely be beyond rambling ...
"Is your brother Percy Weasley, then? He works at the Ministry as an assistant to the Minister, dosen´t he?"
Ginny paused at this question, her features clearly showing her displeasure at hearing about Percy. "Yeah, he's my brother. I mean ... well, yes, he was definitely born to my mum and lived under the same roof as us for the first 18 years of his life but ... there, you know, are people who aren't the most loyal in the world." She stopped her words dead on. Wow. If she had been determined not to go off about something earlier, this was a hell of a way of keeping up that resolve.
"So, I mean, what does your dad do nowadays anyway?" She said this hesitantly, but with sincere curiosity.
