It was late on a Summer night almost time for the next day to come about. No one was in the Slytherin common room except Draco Malfoy who was sitting in a chair facing the fire. He had a rather large book in his lap that he had been reading from. He needed some relaxation time. He had just written a letter to his mother explaining to her that he wouldn't be comming home and never will be either. His was excommunicating himself from his entire family. He as fed up and wanted nothing to do with any of them. He had a place set up for him to get away too. And a job waiting for him that Dumbledore had set up for him to take.

"Well well, look who's up late."
Pansy Parkinson had been seated in the corner of the common room, also occupied with a good book in her lap. Of course, being the way she was, she wasn't noticed by anyone. Not even Draco. But that wasn't really a first. She hadn't noticed him at all either, until just now when she'd taken a break from her book and looked up to find him infront of the fire. She smirked and then folded her arms over her chest as she watched him.

"I could say the same to you Pansy."
Draco turned slightly in his chair to face his girlfriend Pansy Parkinson. Even though he wasn't going to the Ball with her they hadn't resolved their relationship. Meaning they were still together but both new it would most likely come to an end, after all he was taking one of her biggest enemies to the ball instead of her.

She smirked and then stood up and pointed her wand at the book in her hand and it disappeared. She walked over to him and looked over his shoulder at the book he was reading.
"Whatcha readin'?"

"Nothing important. Family history..."
Draco looked up at Pansy then threw the book into the fire. Causing the fire to roar up in even bigger flames.

She raised an eyebrow as he told her it was a book on his family's history.
"Since when are you interested in your family?"
She blinked as he tossed it into the fire.
"Ah. I see."
She smiled slightly and then stood up straight and tucked her hair behind one of her ears.

"Pansy you should know better than to think I care about my ruddy family!"
He stared at the flames roaring away in the fire place. He sighed with releif and looked at Pansy. He did care for her but he really didn't show it very much. Then he stood from his chair and in front of her. He stared at her face and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"What is going on with you? You haven't been yourself lately."

She tilted her head as he put his hand on her shoulder.
"I havn't? How have I not been myself?"
She knew she hadn't been herself lately, but it wasn't because of her not having a date to the ball. It was just because she'd been sending letters to her parents every chance she could, and yet they never replied.

"There is something going on with you Pansy whether you're willing to admit it or not. You haven't yelled at me about taking Buffy to the ball at all and that was defantly not like you Pansy. You hate her Pansy. You HATE her! I know you do. And you haven't been slandering anyone lately, now that was a for sure sign something is up."
Draco stared at her and let his hand fall back to lie next to his body. He knew something was up with her. It wasn't in her nature to not care about her reputation. After all thats why she had started to date Draco. He knew it and so did she. She's always taken pride in being Draco Malfoy's girlfriend and would bitch out anyone who said they weren't together or any one who even had a chance of breaking them up.

She merely smiled at him.
"My dear Draco. Even though we've been together all these years, you still don't know what I'm like."
She sighed and rubbed her arm as she looked at the face of the grandfather clock. She looked back at him.
"If you're thinking my sudden change is because of Buffy. It's not. In fact...we're actually becoming friends."
